At SCALAR we are always working on increasing our capabilities whether that be in the form of expanding our materials cutting portfolio or polishing our machine and production acumen. Below is a partial list of what we can currently perform in terms of dimensions and materials.

We recommend against these materials as they tend to exhibit less than presentable cuts and finishes
- Plywood – grades lower than BCX
- Hardboard/Fiberboard
- OSB (Oriented Strand Board)
Production Envelope
Currently, the largest standard work piece we can operate on is 24 inches by 48 inches by 1.5 inches or 600mm by 1200mm by 35mm.
While this is our standard dimensions, we don’t shy away from challenges. For example we have gone to 24 inches by 96 inches (600mm by 2400mm) with some savvy work-arounds. Going beyond the standard envelope may throw off our tolerances a bit further.

Tolerances possible
At SCALAR our tolerances are +/- 0.3mm or +/-0.012in. This represents 1 sigma events for our machines.
There’s a very good chance that these tolerances will not even be noticed, but if you have more complex projects with numerous components, set up your files to make sure you take into account the possibility of a 0.3mm variance and expect to finish sand/file your components for best fit -especially if they are part of a larger assembly.
If this level of tolerance is not enough for your needs, we recommend finding a different vendor for your cutting and machining needs!
Finish
We perform basic deburring on every piece we produce but at this time we do not have capability to apply greater finishes beyond this. Instead we turn the savings onto you. Your final work from SCALAR may have slight machining marks on it when delivered but we work hard to make sure that’s all the flaws you’ll receive.
If a particular finish beyond what we currently offer is needed, it’s best to seek out a second supplier to perform these functions.
